Sula Vineyards Shiraz from India

The Sula Vineyards Shiraz is a superb example of vegan red wine which works wonderfully with all vegan curry dishes. This wine is a fabulous alternative to an Aussie Cabernet-Shiraz blend - slightly lighter, fresher almost, but with the same burst of vibrant fruit that makes this youthful style so easily drinkable. The altitude of the Nashik hills vineyards provides a cooling influence on the grapes over the ripening period, and the wine retains a streak of acidity that prevents all those heady fruit flavours from getting too sticky. Blackberry, blueberry, and a smokey pepper note are at the forefront here, with a delightfully moreish hint of dark chocolate lingering towards the finish. This is a great quaffing wine, and why not, quite frankly, when you consider just what great value it is?

The wine was fermented cool to retain varietal fruitiness, and then aged for two months in older oak barrels to integrate the flavours and soften the mouthfeel. No animal-based fining agents or winery aids were used during the vinification.

Established in 1997 in the Nashik hills, Sula Vineyards were one of the pioneers of viticulture in India. Widely regarded as the nation's premium wine producer, they are committed to crafting distinctly Indian wines with contemporary and vegan-friendly winemaking techniques.
