The multi award winning Piattelli Malbec is produced in a completely organic way in the foothills of the Andes Mountains in Argentina. The vines of Piattelli Vineyards are over 100 years old and they benefit from natural irrigation from the pure waters from the melting snow of the Andes. The wine is matured in American and French Oak Casks for 10 months and then a further 6 months in bottle to produce a sublime Malbec of exquisite quality and flavour. Piatelli Malbec has been rated as 90/100 by Wine and Spiriut Magazine as well as Robert Parker, James Suckling and Wine Spectator.
Piattelli vineyards take huge pride in their ability to craft wines with a true sense of terroir. They pay complete attention to the different regions and climates to produce wines that are dictated by terroir rather than fashion or demand. The head winemaker Valeria Antolin has a passionate persuit of perfection and this shows in all the wines Piatelli produces. The vineyard benefits from a gravity fed winery which is one of the only gravity flow vinification systems in Argentina. The vineyard practises sustainable farming and their Mendoza vineyards and USDA Certified Organic. The grapes are cultivated with arid-clean air, crystal-clear waters and nutrient rich soils and their award winning wines and crafted with wisdom, passion and love.
The vines of Piattelli Malbec 2014 are cultivated in the Lujan de Cuyo region at an altitude of 3280 feet above sea level. Situated on the edge of the Andes Mountains the vineyards benefit from alluvial soils, cooling moutain winds and diurnal temperature differences between the warm days and cooler nights. This allows for an extended ripening season which produces concentrated grapes bursting with flavour.
The grapes for Piatelli Malbec were hand harvested and manually sorted, before undergoing a three day cold maceration. Fermentation then takes place in 5000 to 10,000 litre stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 10 months in French and American oak barrels and finally left to mature in bottle for a further six months.
The perfect match to Mushroom risotto or vegan pasta dishes. It is also great as a drinking red on it's own.
