The Age of Grace Viognier is something of Lismore Estate's flagship wine, perhaps the wine which most carefully expresses the unique terroir of the Greyton Ward in Overberg. In this cool-climate enclave, the grapes are often harvested weeks later than in neighbouring regions, and this long, steady ripening allows significant phenolic complexity to develop alongside the sugars. The Age of Grace Viognier is subtler and fruitier than their standard varietal bottling, with less of the nuttiness and more perfume - pineapples, kiwi fruit and orange blossom are all detectable on the nose and palate. The acidity is bright and fresh, the mouthfeel voluptuous - this is an equal match for many of the best Northern Rhone Viogniers, and at a fantastically good price.

In the winery, the grapes were whole bunch pressed (to minimise skins extraction) and then barrel fermented in small, French oak barriques. Following fermentation, the wine was treated to regular battonage, lending the wine a fullness on the palate. No animal-based fining agents or winery aids were used during the vinification.

Lismore Estate is the only registered winery in the increasingly respected ward of Greyton, Overberg. Winemaker Samantha O'Keefe and her family are committed to crafting high-quality and contemporary wine styles that express the terroir and finesse of this cool corner of South Africa.
