Gerard Bertrand Legende Rivesaltes from the Languedoc

The Legende Rovesaltes from Gerard Bertrand is a serious vegan dessert wine. Brimming with rich and intense flavours this remarkable wine can be enjoyed with desserts or post meal as a digestif.

Winery Information:
One of the most dynamic and brilliant winemakers from the South of France, where he owns no less than seven estates among the most prestigious terroirs of Languedoc Roussillon, Gérard Bertrand was named in 2012 as the ""European Winery of the Year"" by Wine Enthusiast and ""Red Wine Maker of the Year"" by the IWC.

Viticulture:
Near the Spanish border, on the Mediterranean side, on the foot-hills of the Pyrenees Mountains, Roussillon, South of France.

Soil:
Schist

Vinification:
The white varieties are produced by fermenting the liquid musts, after pressing; the reds also benefit from maceration of the must, in contact with the grape skins. Fermentation is interrupted before the yeasts have the time to convert all of the sugar into alcohol. The Rivesaltes thus preserve some of the natural sweetness found in the fruit. The wines are then matured in wooden tuns, casks or barrels for 9 to 12 months before being either bottled or blended and transferred to vats where they will mature slowly and peacefully. For this particular wine, the second maturing period lasted for over fifty years.

Tasting Note:
A clear, amber colour with hints of gold. The nose is powerful and woody, with hints of cocoa, prune and grilled almonds. On the palate, complex, powerful and tightly-structured with dried figs, honey, caramel, prune, candied orange and vanilla aromas. The tannins are delicious and well-rounded. The overall effect is one of harmony and refinement, with an exceptional length of flavour, delicious notes of salted caramel on the finish.

Every day serving suggestion:
Will complement a good vegan derssert wonderfully, and will be just as enjoyable with vegan chocolate desserts without the milk of course!
