Eden Road The Long Road Pinot Gris Rosé

Eden Road The Long Road Pinot Gris Rosé is a dry style of Rosé wine which is superb to drink on it's own but will also work wonderfully when served with fresh Tuna or a Ceasar salad.

Located in Murrumbateman in New South Wales' Canberra Wine District, boutique winery Eden Road was established in 2008 by businessman Chris Coffman and was awarded the most prestigious wine award in Australia - The Jimmy Watson - for its first vintage of The Long Road Shiraz in 2009. Its collection of cool climate wines in a raft of exciting and original styles are highly-prized, and owe much to the soils the vines are planted on which were formed over 400 million years ago and are some of the oldest on the planet.

The 2015 vintage was challenging at times with either extreme heat or large amounts of rainfall but, as is often the case, challenging vintages result in incredible wines. 2015 is being compared favourably with the famous 2013 vintage.

The grapes are grown on 19 year old Pinot Gris vines from a vineyard just north of the Eden Road winery. The vineyard lies at an altitude of 630 metres above sea level on an ancient decomposed granite belt, making this an excellent site for achieving ripeness with balanced acidity.

The fruit was loaded into the press and then allowed approximately 12 hours of skin contact prior to pressing. It was then gently pressed directly to a stainless steel tank and settled over night before being racked and fermented at cool temperatures, retaining the varietal characteristics. Following fermentation the wine was settled and filtered directly to bottle following cold stabilisation.

Tasting Note

Before pressing the berries are left to settle and draw colour naturally from the pink tinged skin of Pinot Gris grapes. This is a dry rosé with a heady perfume of fruits des bois and a touch of wild herbs.

Serving Suggestion

Eden Road The Long Road Pinot Gris Rose is a stunning aperitif or amazing when served with salads.
