Eden Road Canberra Shiraz

The Eden Road Canberra Shiraz is a soft and elegant red wine with delightful flavours of forest fruits and subtle spice characters. This red wine is superb when drunk with steak au poivre but it's supple enoygh to drink on it's own if you like a medium bodied Shiraz wine.

Located in Murrumbateman in New South Wales' Canberra Wine District, boutique winery Eden Road was established in 2008 by businessman Chris Coffman and was awarded the most prestigious wine award in Australia - The Jimmy Watson - for its first vintage of The Long Road Shiraz in 2009. Its collection of cool climate wines in a raft of exciting and original styles are highly-prized, and owe much to the soils the vines are planted on which were formed over 400 million years ago and are some of the oldest on the planet.

The Shiraz comes from a 19 year old single vineyard in Murrumbateman on decomposed granite soils. These soils, coupled with the continental cool climate, deliver beautiful perfumed and powerful Shiraz.

The vinification included 20% of the grapes which were fermented as whole clusters. Following fermentation, the wine was matured in 500 litre old French barrels for 12 months before bottling without using pumps.

Tasting Note

A rich wine thanks to warmer weather, with soft elegant notes of ripe forest fruits which are set against the typical peppery spice.

Serving Suggestion

This is a great match with mushroom paella and vegan paella.
