Eden Road Canberra Riesling

The Edan Road Caberra Riesling is a dry style of Riesling with superb tropical fruit characteristics and flavours. This is a stunning wine to drink on it's own but is even better when paired with Thai dishes or indeed any Asian cuisine.

Located in Murrumbateman in New South Wales' Canberra Wine District, boutique winery Eden Road was established in 2008 by businessman Chris Coffman and was awarded the most prestigious wine award in Australia - The Jimmy Watson - for its first vintage of The Long Road Shiraz in 2009. Its collection of cool climate wines in a raft of exciting and original styles are highly-prized, and owe much to the soils the vines are planted on which were formed over 400 million years ago and are some of the oldest on the planet.

It was a warmer vintage, so the wine fermented bone dry to off set lower acidity levels. The continental climate in Canberra produces some of the best examples of Riesling in Australia, much cooler than Eden Valley or Clare Valley.

This Riesling was planted 19 years ago in a vineyard north of Murrumbateman at 650 metres above sea level. All vines are a Geisenheim clone. The soil is a decomposed granite soil. Viticulture is not organic but Eden Road follows organic viticulture practices where possible.

The fruit was hand-picked and gently whole bunch pressed into tank and allowed to settle for 24 hours. The juice was then simply racked and fermented with an aromatic yeast at 18°C until dry.

Tasting Note

A dry Riesling with hints of lime blossom and elderflower. Beautiful and soft but with an uplifting yet dry finish.

Serving Suggestion

Perfect with crunchy vegan fresh Thai influenced salads.
