Domaine Nicolas Rossignol Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Angles

Nicolas Rossignol was born in1974, the 5th generation of his family to be involved in wine. After technical training in Beaune he worked in Volnay, Chateauneuf du Pape, South Africa and Bordeaux before returning to the family estate. In 1997, he purchased 3 hectares spread over Volnay, Pommard, Beaune, Aloxe-Corton and Pernand-Vergelesses . In 1998, he increased his Vineyard holdings by another 1 hectare. Today, Nicolas makes wine from his own estate, as well as from his fathers's vineyards (Domaine Familial Rossignol Jeanniard) bottling everything under the name Nicolas Rossignol. His wines have excellent body and rich tannins.


A blend of clay and pebbles. Vines 40 to 60years old.


Guyot System. Sustainable farming methods. No use of weedkiller. Pruning according to the lunar calendar.


Fermentation lasts around 3 weeks. Wines are aged on the lees. Use of new oak can vary depending on the vintage. Delayed malolactic fermentation (after about 8 months) to give more complexity and structure. No racking, fining or filtration.
