Winery Information:
Domaine de Coyeux is a beautifully located winery owned by Yves and Catherine Nativelle. It comprises 130 hectares of vineyards in a one site block, set on a hill in a prime location at Beaumes-de-Venise. The vines are planted at an altitude of 260M, where the soil comes from one of the very rare outcrops of the Comtadine region’s trias. The grapes grown are Syrah, Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvedre and small white Muscat. Domaine de Coyeux produces Beaumes-de-Venise Muscat, Gigondas and Beaumes-de-Venise wines.

Viticulture:
The density of planting is 4000 vines per hectare (2.5 acres), with an age of 28 to 56 years. The average production capacity is 8,500 cases of twelve bottles per vintage.

Vinification:
Harvesting by hand based on the maturity of the different grape-varieties. The entire crop is destemmed. Fermentation, with natural yeasts, takes place in thermoregulated stainless steel vats at a temperature of 25 to 30 degrees celcius. Vatting lasts from 19 to 22 days and combines two grape varieties. devatting and separate racking of the free-run juice. The cuvees are blended and aged in French Alliers oak barriques for 9 months, a third of which are new each year.

Tasting Note:
This wine has an intense colour with delicate red fruits on the nose. On the palate it is fine with supple tannins and ripe, pure plummy fruit with chocolate and spicy notes leading to an elegant finish.
