Chateau Ksara Cuvee 3eme Millenaire
Chateau Ksara Cuvee Troisieme Millenaire
Grape variety: 40% Petit Verdot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 30% Syrah
From: Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
The Cuvee Troisieme Millenaire is Chateau Ksara's flagship wine. This is the best of the best, not just in their portfolio but perhaps in Lebanese wine in general. Petit Verdot is something of an anomalous grape that is usually only used sparingly as a blending component, shoring up the other other Bordeaux varietals when required, but here it is at the forefront and is at the very crux of the wine's power. Rich blackcurrant and damson fruit notes are supported by well-integrated vanilla from the oak, underscored by fine tannins and an opulent mouthfeel. This is a lovely wine, crying out for Christmas dinner.
Following fermentation and blending, the wine was aged in French oak casks for a period of 12 months (65% of which were new). No animal-based fining agents or winery aids were used during the vinification.
Chateau Ksara is Lebanon's oldest winery, founded in the early 19th century. An industry pioneer, it has adapted the best of French winemaking tradition to forge a distinctly Lebanese style. Continuing in this spirit, today it combines organic viticulture with low-sulphur and vegan-friendly winemaking technology
