From: Bekaa Valley, Lebanon

The Bekaa Valley is a region well-suited to grape growing. At an altitude of over 1000m, the microclimate formed by its twin mountain ranges is neither too hot nor too cold, and well-provided by winter meltwater running off the peaks. Year on year the region produces grapes of perfect ripeness, exemplified by the balance between heady fruit notes and crisp acidity apparent in their Blanc de Blancs. Perhaps fruitier than a standard Bordeaux-style white wine (the Sauvignon really lends some uplifting aromatics) and bolstered by the addition of some nutty, creamy Chardonnay, this is a wine of noble complexity that belies its price tag. Drink it with more robust food, perhaps some vegetarian mezze dishes or a creamy risotto Milanese.

Following fermentation, the wine was aged in French oak barriques for several months, developing the richer, nuttier notes and rounding the mouthfeel. No animal-based fining agents or winery aids were used during the vinification.

Chateau Ksara is Lebanon's oldest winery, founded in the early 19th century. An industry pioneer, it has adapted the best of French winemaking tradition to forge a distinctly Lebanese style. Continuing in this spirit, today it combines organic viticulture with low-sulphur and vegan-friendly winemaking technology.
