Chateau Beausejour de Bonalgue Pomerol

Chateau Beausejour de Bonalgue is from the Pomerol region of Bordeaux and is the 2nd wine of Château Bonalgue.  Château Beausejour de Bonalgue is a traditional Claret with earthy and liquorice flavours and just a hint of chocolate through to a rounded finish. This superb value for money wine will display the delights to be found in a great Bordeaux without costing the earth. Due to the dominance of the Merlot grape this is a Bordeaux that can be drunk quite happily while young yet it also has great potential for limited ageing of up to 10 years.

Winery note

Château Bonalogue was built by Captain Rabiona veteran from Napoleon's army who inherited the land. It was purchased by the Bourotte family in1926. Since then, each family member that has run Bonalgue has been lucky enough to do so with complete freedom and independence. Today it is run by Jean-Baptiste Bourotte and the vineyard is in excellent condition, while the property continues to improve and to refine its methods, while always paying tribute to the exceptional terroir of Bonalgue.

Double and  single Guyot trained vines. 6,000 to 8,000 vines per hectare. Manual deleafing and leaf trimming. Average age of vines 25years.

Sorting before destemming. Fermentation in thermoregulated stainless steel and cement vats. Manual pumping over and maceration for one month. Aged for18 months in fine French oak barrels (50% new).

Tasting Note

The generosity of Merlot on this early-ripening terroir brings an exuberant expression to the wine; ripe fruits with a silky, velvety texture in the mouth and a strikingly aromatic nose. Open and engaging when young but more sophisticated when older, without ever losing its voluptuous nature.
