Champagne Moutard Brut Reserve
Champagne Moutard Brut Reserve NV
The Brut Reserve Champagne from Francois Moutard is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes. This gives a very distinctive flavour and finish to this delightful vegan Champagne.
The Moutards have been making wine and Champagne since the early 1600's. Francois Moutard's 21-hectare vineyard is situated in Buxeuil at the extreme south east of Champagne, the highest region in Champagne. This area has almost all of it's land dedicated to the growth and production of Champagne. The quality of all Moutard's Champagnes are well known and the consistency is due to the high placement in the region.
Pinot Noir thrives particularly well on the clay and limestone soils. Francois is one of the few growers who still grow the Arbane grape; as he also grows the Petit Meslier, he is one of the very few vignerons who can produce a Champagne - 6 Cepages – which is made up of the six allowable grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, Petit Meslier and Arbane.
Aged for a minimum of three years
10 – 20 year old vines. Vines are pruned during the first fortnight of March, using the Chablis method. Vineyards are then ploughed and fertilised during the winter months. Hand harvested.
Moitad Brut Reseve Champagne has a fine and light nose with lemon and acacia fragrance. This Champagne has a full, creamy Chardonnay palate leading through to a fresh, clean and fruity finish. The bubbles are small like all decent sparkling wines.
