Bonacchi Chianti Classico Black Rooster
Bonacchi Chianti Classico 'Black Rooster'
The Bonacchi Chianti Classico Black Rooster is aptly named after the law passed in Tuscany to show this is a genuine Chianti. It increasingly seems that Chianti Classico is indeterminable from standard Chianti, so when we find a wine that does raise its head above that next quality tier we like to shout about it. For years now, Cantina Bonacchi has been making cracking vegan Chianti with all the flips and frills that make these wines so good - juicy strawberry, dusty cherry and a savoury gamey note to the finish.
The tannins are supple and the acidity is fresh and lively, and there are few wines in our inventory that we'd prefer to enjoy with a tomato and basil laden weeknight pasta supper. This one to buy by the case.
The grapes are sourced from vineyards in the heart of Tuscany. After pressing and fermentation, the wine was aged in large oak barrels for one year. No animal-based fining agents or winery aids were used during the vinification.
Cantina Bonacchi has been making wine in Tuscany for three generations. Despite being an old producer committed to conserving the best of Chianti, they aren't afraid to experiment with new, vegan-friendly winemaking technology. This delightful vegan red wine is perfect with most vegan tomato based dishes.
