Berton Vineyard Botrytis Semillon Half bottles

The Botrytis Semillon from berton Vineyards is a truly delicious wine to drink both on it's own and also with either cheeses or desserts. This is a soft style of pudding wine that isn't too cloying and has just the right balance of acidity and honeyed flavours mixed with subtle stone fruit characters. Vegan dessert wines are hard to find and even harder to get really good ones but this cheeky little number steps up to the plate!

Established by Bob and Cherie Berton in May 1996 with 30 hectares of land at 450m above sea level on gently rolling hills in a sub-region of Eden Valley in South Australia. The superb Reserve Shiraz and Reserve Chardonnay wines are still sourced from this plot. In 2007 Bob purchased the Yenda winery in the heart of the Riverina. This state of the art facility has the capacity to process 20,000 tonnes, and allows Berton Vineyard to produce value for money wines which sit alongside their premium single vineyard offerings.

Vineyard

All vines have been spur pruned. Vine age is varied. Vines are planted roughly 1.8m apart with 3.6m between the rows to allow machinery access. The Trellis system is generally a single wire cordon.

Winemaking

After harvesting the wine is fermented in stainless steel vats at temperatures between 14 to 16 degrees. Whenthe wine is at the desired sweetness the fermentation is stopped by chilling the ferment to zero degrees.

Tasting Note

The Griffith area is internationally renowned for producing some of the best Botrytis affected wines, with it's luscious, honeyed flavours of peach and apricot, which are well balanced by natural acidity.

Serving Suggestion

Enjoy slightly chilled as a great accompaniment to blue cheese or rich puddings.
