Bishops Leap Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
Bishop's Leap Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
The Bishops Leap Sauvignon Blanc is a superb example of how amazing vegan white wines can be. Everyone is getting tired of that overly grassy, overly acidic, but somehow still flabby Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc. Well, this is an example of what well-priced New Zealand Sauvignon should be like, clean and crisp and showing restrained flavours of passion fruit, lychee and gooseberry, and an underlying herbacious note that is as far from grassy as plant-based adjectives allow me to be. Try with a lightly spiced Thai vegetable curry, or an Asian-inspired vegan stir-fry.
In the winery, the grapes was pressed with minimal skin contact and fermented cool to retain the lighter fruit notes. Bishop's Leap is made by respected and experienced winemaker Alana McGettigan of Saint Clair Estate, one of the original pioneers of viticulture in Marlborough. No animal-based fining agents or winery aids were used during the vinification.
